17 May marks the worldwide celebration of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. IDAHOT was created in 2003 to raise awareness of the violence and discrimination that the members of the LGBTQ+ Community still experience because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
IDAHOT is celebrated every year on 17 May because the World Health Organization (WHO) removed homosexuality from the list of mental disorders on 17 May 1990.
To honour this day, Younity organized a lunch yesterday to highlight what IDAHOT stands for, to give more insight on the challenges that members from the LGBTQ+ community face and to engage in a discussion on the subject.
